Firewater 02:54
FIREWATER Flap Jacks and Firewater. I've got money and time to squander. Sweet dreams about the preachers daughter. High time gonna take her to the slaughter. Ah ha! High times cutting' up the scene. Long legs so tall and lean. My, my and glory be. Hound dog barkin' right up that tree. Now, come on. Come on. Come on.. yeah, YEAH!!! Can you hear me? Can you hear me when I call?!? I know you can hear me but you make no sense at all. So, baby put your number down!

FRUITS OF THE LAUREL The sands of the hour glass, are sure to fall. And when they do, you aint got nothing to morn. For indeed you know it's much like natures seasons. And indeed you know we do, we have our reasons. Don't ya move too fast! And to look beyond the initial view. And to pick up all those pieces left for us to use. It will broaden your mind set free now all your confusion. So, break the senseless boundaries of traditional life's illusion. Don't move too fast!!!
3.
My Lady 03:43
MY LADY I stand up next to your mountain and my feet can't touch your skies. There aint no way to contemplate it. Just no reason why. I still call you my good friend after all these long years. I still callin' you my lady. Who's gonna be there when you drift away and who's gonna catch you from the fall? What's to be when summer grieves and autumn heeds the call? Like a fool that wears a laurel wreath, on the way you are. But you're all alone when the four winds blow you strait back to where you was before. And I'm still calling' you my good friend after all those long years. I'm still calling' you my baby, after all those long distance tears. Still callin' you my woman. And I'm still calling' you my lady.

Fat Cat 04:17
FAT CAT Who's that foxy lady with the red dress on. And what she got hidin' underneath her gown. She said: "Tell me Mister Mister what's your name, right NOW! She said: "Tell me ... ....Mister... ..."WHAT'S YOUR NAME"! Driven yesterday in my car what I saw. A foxy kin, cool, cat lady with a red dress on. She said: "Tell me Mister Mister what's you're name, right now. She said: "TELL ME Mister WHAT'S YOUR NAME"... The cat goes on the prowl. To help the kitty meow.... She wants him so to stay. But this cats he's a stray.

Big Get Away 03:21
BIG GET AWAY Keep on rollin' lord I gotta get away. I got me a woman with never much to say. I'm looking' for love like Tupelo honey. I got me a woman only thinking' 'bout money. I'm hustlin' and bustlin', trying' make a love song. I'm biding your time babe it won't take too long. With words like yours ya got me lying, With a face like that ya sure got me crying. Oh, Yeah, The big get away. 'Cause what you got is just hearsay. Oh, Yeah, The big get away. 'Cause what you're not is just hearsay.

Garden 04:40
GARDEN I've got a garden. It pulls me along. I plant those flowers. When I'm feeling strong. Once in a while it occurs to me. I gaze to the reflection looking back to see. I hope I reach the gate, before it gets too late. The noon sun burns me strait on. Dried flowers and scattered memories. Take them for what they are meant to be. Inspiration in the waking of the sun. Pushing me ahead to where I belong. 'Cause I belong. I've got this feeling. It never gets too late. I'll pack my bags just when I choose. And still be on my way. You think you will know or recognize the door. Where loneliness eclipses comfort from the warm. Will it take you to the place, where fears might take your face. Will insecurities forsake you. Dried flowers and scattered memories. Take them for what they intend to be. Inspiration in the waking of the sun. Pushing me ahead to where I belong. 'Cause I belong

STRAIT SHOOTIN' MAN I'm a shot gun slinging', whiskey bar drinking', honky tonk hell of a man. If your ears start ringing better jump up swinging or get gone as quick as you can. 'Cause I'm a strait shooting' man. I found myself on a losing streak but that ain't gonna last. You better start thinking what's yours to keep, 'cause, I'm coming in fast. Pull your 6 gun out and put it right down upon the floor! 'Cause I'm a shot gun slinging', whiskey bar drinking', honkey tonk hell of a man. If your ears start ringing better jump up swinging, or get gone as quick as you can. 'Cause I'm a strait shooting' man! That no-good woman had my heart to keep but she wanted more than that. Clutchin' at my soul to reap now jesus wants it back. Pull your 6 gun out and put it right down upon the floor! Cause I'm a shot gun slinging', whiskey bar drinking', honkey tonk hell of a man. If your ears start ringing better jump up swinging, or get gone as quick as you can. 'Cause I'm a strait shooting' man! Your gonna reap just what you sow. Now take this as your warning call. 'Cause there's one thing that you should really understand. I'm a strait shooting' man!

Free 04:39
FREE In a place where only poets weep. Frozen secrets the watchmen keep. Crowded Ball rooms the romance sweet. Give away to a rodents peep. Hear no evil and lose no sleep. How can you now hear me. Pretty skinny girls keeping' in style with their fad fashion ways stock piled. Condemn a bum with a nickel for our miles. Just to come in a run in your attire. Cover your legs with stockings and smiles. Are you happy now you're phony. Children play like today is tomorrow. The dove will sore in and out of sorrow. The witch will brew from the fruits of the laurel. All will be free one day. One day.

Said So 04:05
SAID SO What you gonna do today. The sun going down that way. My baby's down out on the floor. Ask me if I want some more and I said so. What you gonna do today. In much the unusual way. I'm all down out on the floor. Ask me if I want some more and I said no.

WOMAN OR SOUL The girl she knows just what she's doing. She likes the way her fingers feel, around my trigger, She knows what she wants, and she'll do what it takes to get it. This aint no do or die i love you. This aint no do or die deal baby. I know my life is left for living, giving, and loving. You'll see me floating out by Jupiters way. Angels dance round her in pairs. Deities pull out flowers from her hair. The queen of spades dancing lightly round my space. Her demons pull out flowers from my face. I'm standing naked at my crossroads. Time and space, all relativity despair. I'm looking blindly toward my darkness. You'll see me floating out by Jupiters way. Baby, What you're doing, Baby what you’re doing to my soul! She walks on by me like she didn't even notice. She'll stare on through me like she doesn't even care. How to show the depths of my emotions. To the girl who won't learn how to swim.

credits

released August 18, 2016

Jim Donnelly - Drums
Exceptional drumming with impeccable timing! A true pro with steadfast engineering, patience, generosity and hospitality. (He also doubled as my studio shrink when I had those moments of losing my mind:) His 'PLOW GROUND STUDIOS' is set in a rural part of Johns Island, Charleston SC. He and his studio have become an icon in the Charleston music scene, where productions of many well established and 'up and coming' artists have been recorded.

Berry Davenport - Trumpet
Off the wall sick trumpet playing and essential collaborator for the horn arrangements.

Nicola Genovese - Keyboard
Keys please! Nicola recorded all the keyboard parts on this album while living in Florence Italy! A true master mind of music. Multi instrumentalist/ songwriter/ Arranger/ music, film producer/ Artist/ etc. He's been my rock of peace, patience and confidence through this production process.

Paul Quatlebaum - Guitar
Truly magical guitar playing. Scientific wizardry with his portable laboratory. A true medium for channeling and projecting Peace, love and passion.

John F. Kennedy - Bass
Dropping the BASS BOMB on this album. Incredibly talented and extremely professional. John popped the cherry on this album while featuring the first edition of his bass guitar which he completely built from scratch. ( He now uses a second design which he incorporated a smaller body for touring purposes).A genius with a loving soul.

Mark Davis - Harmonica
Harmonica has somehow become an extension of his being; like an arm or a leg. He rolled in hot and laid it down with perfect taste and discretion. A true pro

Walter Biffle - Guitar
Nashville/ world class guitar player. His solos on 'My Lady' are a great example of why I chose to hire him for his guitar work on this album. He also collaborated guitar solos with Paul on STRAIT SHOOTIN' MAN. A true artist and pro

Eric Robertson - Bagpipes
Bag Pipes on FREE! BAG PIPES!!! It really does take a special person to master that archaic instrument. Eric is a multi instrumentalist who ROCKS!

Lance Garland - Vocals
Backing vocals. A true enthusiast for this album. He has been a rock of confidence, support, love and MAGIC.

Brandy Harper - Vocals
What a voice! Backing vocals with a strong, sultry, sexy vibe. Just what we needed!

Haily Rain Buckman - Vocals
Exceptional backing vocals on GARDEN! Haily and Brandy, cousins and soul sisters. They are a true pleasure to work with and they brought the YIN balance to this Yang line up.

David Vaughn - Recording / Mastering
Master of the Master! Fresh ears, professional, top of the line mastering software and equipment. An incredibly talented mandolin player/ multi instrumentalist. He was a pragmatic sounding board for a sometimes emotional finale to the sound recording of this production. He and his mastering studio: MOON TOWER RECORDS is a perfect environment for a fresh vibe and approach for mixing the final master. Dave is who mastered the first mix rendition or the 'artist take mix'.

Taylor Wickstrom- Design
His graphic wizardry and focused attention to detail with the cover art and labeling/ merchandise design. A true artist.

Derek O'Brien
Derek took the original tracks and re-mixed and mastered the album to a more 'radio friendly' mix. A true professional who checks his ego at the door while working. He was a true pleasure to work with and showed a lot of patience as we conversed back and forth to achieve the re-mix that I wanted.
